Live Client & Academic Project
This mural project marked my first live client experience and was completed during my second year in the Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design program at Conestoga College. In collaboration with program peer Estrella Turner, we were tasked with conceptualizing a mural for Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada's (TMMC) Cambridge plant which was a project initiated through a school-industry partnership. After several design proposals from our cohort, Estrella and myself's concept was selected by the TMMC team to be developed into a full-scale mural installation.
My role involved co-designing the mural from early ideation through to final execution. This included a series of in-depth client meetings, design revisions, and collaborative feedback sessions with TMMC representatives. Once selected, we continued refining the work in partnership with the client to ensure the final piece reflected both the visual goals of the company and the spirit of the workspace.
This experience offered invaluable insight into the collaborative and iterative nature of professional design work. It challenged my assumptions about timelines and client expectations and provided a deeper understanding of how design functions in real-world environments — all while working on a project that lives on in a semi-permanent, physical space.
