GATHER ROUND
PAIRING BOOK

Photography & Editorial

2021

Academic Project

Gather Round is a photography and editorial project that pairs two of my personal passions—making cocktails and listening to music—into a curated book experience. Developed as part of my Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design, the project challenged me to create a book concept that meaningfully brought together two distinct elements. In this case, the art of making cocktails and music in the form of vinyl records became the foundation for a multi-sensory experience centred around taste, sound, and storytelling.

The book presents a series of pairings, each featuring a handcrafted classic cocktail photographed alongside a vinyl record of a modern album selected to complement it. Every spread includes original photography, a brief description of the pairing, a full recipe for the reader to follow along, and a tracklist of the paired album. The design invites the reader to slow down, sip, and listen, offering an immersive, tactile moment where design meets ritual and rhythm.

This project was both a celebration of personal interest and a deep dive into visual storytelling, photography, and editorial layout, blending culture, craft, and creativity into one cohesive experience.

The design of the book is meant to be all-encompassing; being a resource, a coffee table book or a conversational piece while company is over.
