36 DEGREES
MAGAZINE
Identity & Editorial
2021
Academic Project
36 Degrees is a film review magazine developed as part of my Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design at Conestoga College. The project involved crafting a unique identity and editorial voice for a magazine centered around film review with the limitation of not using photography, rather using illustrative imagery. This limitation became sort of a principle in shaping the magazine’s visual language, because with the limitation came a motif in the magazine's style which was a grungy, rough-around-the-edges aesthetic
.
My role encompassed the development of the magazine’s branding, layout, complex grid and visual systems, as well as the design of a short multi-page editorial spread using curated film-related content, sourcing copy from articles and other material.
